Upcoming 250th Lecture at Rhodes College

The Wilson Center at Rhodes College in Memphis will host Danielle Allen for a free public lecture on Thursday, September 18 at 6 pm in McNeill Concert Hall.

Allen is James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and director of the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation.

Allen’s many books include the widely acclaimed Our Declaration: A Reading of the Declaration of Independence in Defense of EqualityThe World of Prometheus: The Politics of Punishing in Democratic AthensTalking to Strangers: Anxieties of Citizenship since Brown v. Board of EducationWhy Plato WroteEducation and EqualityCuz: The Life and Times of Michael A.Democracy in the Time of Coronavirus; and, most recently, Justice by Means of Democracy.

Allen has compiled resources about the Declaration of Independence, whose 250th anniversary will be observed in 2026.
